We were thinking on doing two RS trips this year in France. The second trip is the Loire 13 day trip which ends in Nice the same weekend as the Grand Prix in Monaco. We wanted to visit Monaco but that is a defiant out with the race going on. Has anyone ever been in that area during the race; if so what about getting around Nice and what about the airport business.

Did a cruise back in 2007 that included three nights at Monaco during the Grand Prix. However, due to weather, the ship moved on to the harbor in Nice after the first night, so we took the train back to Nice after watching the race on Sunday. Monaco itself was jammed during the day that Friday through Sunday. In Nice, it didn't seem extraordinarily crowded for a high-season weekend. The train after the race, however...oh my! The station in Monaco was packed, the train was packed, it took us quite a while to get back, but once back in Nice, not bad.
We flew out of Nice the Tuesday after the race, and didn't feel it was abnormally crowded.
