Gorges du Verdon Day Trip

My wife and I are planning to visit Gorges du Verdon in late June and are undecided whether we should stay overnight at Moustiers-Saint-Marie or just take a day trip. We would be coming from Bonnieux so the drive would be just under two hours.

How much time should we allocate for visiting Gorges du Verdon and would you recommend we stay the night so we have more time to enjoy it?

Is it too much to drive from Bonnieux and then return later in the day?

A day trip from Bonnieux is feasible, in my opinion. The drive is long but 4-6 hours therewill give you a good overview of the Gorges.
But since it will be prime lavender season in the fields east of Valensole, you might like to have more time to stop and see them. In that case, if you find affordable accommodation in Moustiers (tricky!), it would be a good idea.
Same if you want to relax on the lake and/or rent a pedal boat to visit the mouth of the gorge (recommended!).
