Gorges Du Verdon

Hi all! My husband and I are planning our first major trip to Europe and are doing 10 days in the south of France. We are doing 6 nights in Saint Paul De Vence to explore Nice, Cannes, Antibes, Eze, etc.. and then 4 nights in Aix-En-Provence. We will rent a car for our time in Aix and plan to drive from Aix/St. Paul to Gorges Du Verdon for a day trip. Does anyone have any insight on how busy it is on weekends vs. weekdays? We could do St. Paul leg first and end up in Gorges on a Mon/Tues or do Aix first but we would do Gorges on a Saturday. This would be the last week of August/first week of September. Would love all and any advice as I am a SUPER planner and want to have everything mapped out before we book.

My information doesn’t match up with what you’re looking for exactly but we found virtually no traffic in our travels around Verdon Gorge mid week in April 2017. There were maybe 30 or 40 boats around the east end of the lake at Pont du Galetas. Others with more knowledge will have better intel.

We really enjoyed our time in the area including Tourrettes-sur-Loup, Le Bar sur Loup, Vence, St Paul de Vence, and Grasse.

I would remove a night from St Paul de Vence and spend it around Moustiers Sainte Marie, ideally, while travelling between Aix and St Paul or vice versa. That way you have more time for the Gorges.

If that is not an option, since you have more time in St Paul de Vence, and since the drive is prettier from that direction, I would visit from there.

We are going to stop there after our day on the water! We will be driving to or from St. Paul either way so will get to see all the views.

In early June 2019, we had no issues with crowds mid-week.

We spent a night in Moustiers-Ste-Marie and wish we had spent two nights there so we could have spent more time at the gorge. It's beautiful. Enjoy!
