Seeking some advice from fellow ETBD fans!
We will be staying in a house outside Gordes for week, and then have 3 days free before driving to Barcelona (rental car all the way). We're two seasoned adult travelers and 2 intrepid kids (ages 7 and 9). I'd really like to spend one of those days floating down the Gorges de Verdon, but I'm having trouble figuring out the logistics, and having trouble visualizing the immediate area.
Most accommodation in Moustiers is already booked, but we are OK staying outside a town (esp, if in the countryside!) as long as it's not a depressing hotel. We just want a location that will put us in close proximity to a boat rental place at the bottom of the gorge for a float day on the river (not the Lac). Any suggestions whatsoever at this late date? We'd also be fine spending each of our 2 nights in different places, if it makes sense.
If you stay at the top of the gorge, is it easy or hard to get down a boat rental area? While you rent canoes/inner tubes etc., is there somewhere to leave your car? Is there a particularly good place to rent the boats from, and/or a particularly pretty stretch of the gorge to float through? Any other tips about logistics for the day (picnic lunch, refreshments stops etc.) that would help?
And... if this all seems like too much of a mission to book at this late date, any suggestions for another 2-3 day adventure in Provence (not Arles, and not the coast), before driving to Barcelona, any tips are deeply appreciated! Thank you!
