We will be visiting Luberon the last weekend in September, and plan to go to Gordes. A few posters have mentioned how difficult parking is at this popular hill town--one person even saying that after 45 minutes with no luck, they gave up.
As we will be there on the weekend in the fall (not summer, high season, but still) I'm strategizing. Original plan for the day was to spend the morning in Roussillon (for best light on the ochre cliffs), stop briefly in Joucas for lunch at La Terrasse (provided it's open--some have said days/hours are not always reliable--is this true?), then spend the afternoon at Gordes.
Wondering if it's better to reverse that plan? Does it help to be at Gordes first thing in the morning? We are based in Menerbes, so can get there quickly and early...
