We'll be driving from Tours to Versailles after spending the morning in Tours and a stop at Chambord. I'm not sure how late we'll get on the road or how far we'll feel like driving. My question: is there anyplace that would make a good (scenic, historic, or the like) stop along the way or should we just suck it up and make it to our next point on the itinerary? Thanks loads.
Chartres, with its world-famous cathedral, is on the way. There's a public parking garage a short walk from the cathedral. In the little bookshop/gift shop inside the cathedral you can rent an audio guide in English.
You'll probably make better time if you use the A10 even though it's not quite as direct as secondary roads.
