We are overnighting in mid-June at CDG and will be spending the afternoon and early evening in Paris. We are looking for a recommendation for dinner near the Notre Dame Cathedral. After dinner, we plan to take the train back to CDG, so being relatively close to the Cathedral would be nice. Looking for something quaint, but good. Not interested in the typical tourist type restaurant on the main blvd.

I would suggest Au Bougnat, which is just around the corner from Notre Dame on Rue Chanoinesse. http://aubougnat.com/ We once rented an apartment in the same building, which used to house clerics from the church. The structure is really old and built for shorter folks. Be sure to duck your head as you go from the bar to the dining room, as the doorway as the lintel of the door is quite low. Charming place with good food and moderate prices.

If you want a yowza dining experience, La Tour d'Argent would be a good choice; it is a commitment to an evening of dining, not a quick meal, but it is great.

Another really fine place near Notre Dame is L'Initial; we paid 48 Euro for an outstanding 7 course meal there last May. Really a bargain for that price. That would probably be my choice as a balance of fine food and cost. Note that any of the things recommended in this thread should be reserved ahead.
