Hello, we are in Normandy next week and staying in Bayeux. We are going to drive down to Mt. St. Michel -- saw the wonderful posts on small towns to visit. We are driving back to Bayeux later that afternoon...has anyone had a good, local restaurant experience in any of these towns, on the way back to Bayeux? Thanks so much...Tricia
I wouldn't call this on the way, but it is not way out of the way. If you are not already going to Arromanches, and you have time, I would consider going there. It is a quaint little town with much of the remnants of the WWII artificial harbor and wonderful little museum. ANYWAY, we stayed at Hotel le Mulberry which has quite a lot of local charm, but I would consider the inn itself on the modest side, but with an amazing breakfast. The restaurant is anything but modest. It is rated quite highly and we enjoyed it very much. It is called, LES P'TITES ASSIETTES. It is a more traditional French bistro with a Normandy/Brittany flare.
Thank you so much! The museum at Arromanches looks really interesting. Appreciate this suggestion!
On the way back to Bayeux, but much closer to MSM (30 minutes from MSM, 1:10 from Bayeux) is the wonderful town of Avranches. It is home to the Scriptorial museum , which houses many of the original manuscripts printed at MSM. While there are many places to eat there, I had a wonderful lunch at Tartines & Découvertes on my drive between the two towns.

Not between but about 30 minutes past MSM is Cancale, home of the best tasting oysters anywhere. I was skeptical but I stayed a night there and the oysters really were noticeably great. I ate at a small bar/restaurant overlooking a bay but anywhere in Cancale will serve oysters - it's what they do.
thank you to all...headed out today and love these suggestions. Au revoir!
