Good place for a few hours between Nice and Salon de Provence

So only a few weeks to go. We are going to be picking up our car in Nice and heading for Salon de Provence for 4 nights, then 3 nights in Manosque. Most likely will travel the A8 - or maybe just detour to the DN7 for part of the journey. Wondering about a nice little village or town that may be nice to stop into for a few hours to break up the drive between Nice and Salon. Maybe Brignoles (which doesn't look that small) or Saint Maximin (which we may visit from Manosque). So just wondering if anyone stopped into any nice little spot along the way.

(Backstory - we've been twice before, and last time rented a car, but we just drove between Salon and Nice without stopping that time).

We’ve been to St Maximin la-Ste-Baum four times. Good market if you stop on a Friday morning. It has the Mary Magdalena Basilica, but if you take the time to drive up La Ste Baum mountain, you can visit the grotto where it is believed Mary Magdalena lived the last years of her life. You are driving right by on the A8, so it's not worth driving back from Manosque later, unless you love driving.
