What is your 'moderate'?

When we were there in Oct 2012, we stayed at the Ibis Styles Strasbourg Center Gary. It’s a couple minutes walk from the train station. There are a number of hotels by it, but that’s the one that had a room when we got into town. The location is good for getting to the main part of town. Any Ibis hotel is a budget hotel. As a side note, I got better WiFi connectivity from the McDonalds next door than from the hotel’s WiFi. If driving, parking for the hotel is about 1/4 miles away, but easy to get to.

In 2015, we thought this hotel was "moderate" - not too expensive, but not super cheap either. It was an easy walk from the train station, and close to the Cathedral. If you book online, the breakfast is half price - or at least it was back then.

Best Western Hotel de France is well located, good breakfasts. We enjoyed our stay there.

We stayed at Hotel Residence Louise in December -- student-style rooms with kitchenette facilities about 10 minute walk from train station. Staying there again in a few weeks.

The two times I stayed in Strasbourg on two different trips were not in moderate hotels but classified as budget. As such they, ie, these 2 star hotels, were good, very nice, clean, well kept, etc Both were in the vicinity of the train station...lots of them there.
