We are looking at going from Marseille to Bordeaux on June 7. Our options are to drive there (about 6-7 hours) or take the train. Checking on the SNCF website, it appears the trip takes about the same travel time because all options take us back through Paris. Am I correct in guessing that there is no other option for train travel between Marseille and Bordeaux? I hope not! I don't mind spending that long on the train, but going back through Paris and possibly changing stations with bags and all seems like a pain in the neck. Please tell me there is another train option, one where we could see some different scenery from the train window than the one we will have seen a few days before when traveling TO Marseille from Paris. Are there not trains to, say, Montpellier, and Montpellier to Bordeaux?
Thank you for any help you can give me.
I see an Intercites train on June 7 leaving Marseilles at 15:27 and arriving in Bordeaux at 21:39 that says direct. Does that not work for you? I looked at sncf-connect.com. It looks like there is also one that leaves at 17:28.
Edit: I just looked again and see one at 9:27, another at 11:24 and yet another at 13:23. What site are you using to find the available trains? If it anything other than www.sncf-connect.com or trainline.com, please try those two. Good luck.
The Intercities does go via Montpellier and Carcassonne direct, no changes, several a day as JHK stated.
Thank you. I saw those trips but guess I misread the details. I will try again.
