The website for the Gobelins tapestries factory in Paris says 90-minute tours are given Tuesday through Thursday, but only in French. Is there an English text or audiotape one can use on the tour to get an approximation of the guide’s comments? Maybe a book in English in the gift shop? I think my wife would especially enjoy this.
I went about 5 years ago, its brilliant. But there was no ebglish info. I have a knowledge of woven tapestry and intermidery French so did ok. With out either i think she will really struggle. It also took me two attempts to see it as the website and the actual opening times didnt really match up! But i would go back in a flash!
I wouldn't be too concerned about a tour . We visited on one our recent visits to Paris , and if you are somewhat knowledgeable about the crafts and trades on display , you will have no difficulty in enjoying yourselves and understanding the displays . Do some advance reading , it will be well worth your time . Search the internet and your local library for source material
Not sure what you mean, Steven. If you want to do a visit the Gobelin factory you have to take the tour. They don't let people just wander through the workshops, no matter how many books they have read.
The tour is in French only, but as long as one of you understands some french you should be OK
I agree Simon, but wondered if something had changed in the last few years.
