Giverny to Versailles

Is there a train from Giverny to Versailles and then from Versailles to Paris?

Thanks,
Donna

I hope you are considering this route as a daytrip from Paris, rather than coming a longer distance with your luggage, which would be hard to store. You can do the trip from Vernon to Versailles Rive Droite station with one connection inside Paris St. Lazare station (not changing stations) or you can go to Versailles-Chantiers station with a connection at Mantes La Jolie. View these Versailles station locations on Google Maps. To return to Paris by RER, the station closest to the chateau is Versailles Château Rive Gauche.

How to Look Up Train Schedules and Routes Online gives you the DB train schedule link and tips for using it.

Yes, but it wouldn't be one contiguous trip. You'd take an SNCF train from Giverny to Paris. The RER takes you from Paris to Versailles (others probably can tell you which RER line to take for that). And the same RER in the other direction takes you from Versailles back to Paris.

Were you thinking about doing all that in one day?

Will not have luggage fortunately. I was hoping there was a direct route fron Giverny to Versailles and then back to Paris. I was hoping to cover both on the same day.

As we found when trying to plan our rail holiday in France , the French do not do 'direct' trains to anywhere. Everything is routed through Paris.

The fastest way is to go back and forth from Paris. The train route between Vernon and Versaillies without going through Paris takes about twice as long as going back to Paris and then taking a train to the other. Its a hub and spoke system.

I did GIverny and Versailles in one day back in 2008. This, however, was on a costly minivan tour that had a delicious lunch included. If interested, let me know.
