How does this work in practice. I can’t buy on line but both sites require timed entry. Is it practical or am I going to waste a lot of time waiting in line at both places?

Not sure I understand the question.
My experience was to purchase a combo ticket at Marmottan. Entered Marmottan immediately. Used Giverny ticket a few days later. My read of the Marmottan website is that only online purchasers need to indicate entry time. We didn’t have a long queue for tickets at Marmottan, but that could be random chance. I don’t think that museum is as frequented as Giverny or Musee. d’Orsay, Louvre, others.
My experience was pre-Covid, but it does not look like anything has changed. Hopefully someone will correct me if I’m wrong.
