Giverny in October?

Absolutely, the gardens are wonderful any time of the year. I’ve been in October and many things are either in bloom or their leaves are changing colors. April was amazing this year, packed with glorious blooms and crowds. Not quite as crowded in October. So go, you will enjoy.

Several of your other posts mention that the 25th annivresary was in February. Were you not able to do the trip then?

This is the calendar for the garden. I've been in October and it will be lovely. I usually do the early train to get to the gardens as they open, and then spend the afternoon and evening in Rouen before returning to Paris.

My first trip to Giverny was in mid-October. The gardens were beautiful and there were even some water lilies blooming. Well worth the visit. I went again this June. While it was beautiful, it was also very crowded. I preferred my October visit for that reason.

Thanks everyone! Yes, Norma. We planned for February, but got snowed out! So, we rescheduled. Now, the anticipation is building even more. :)

One thing I liked about Giverny in October is that the sun is at a lower angle, making for wonderful light for great photos, especially at the lily pond.

The gardens are closed when they can't be maintained in their floral beauty -- so basically November through March they are closed. When they are open they work very hard to make sure they are in bloom with the flowers of the season. There is a lot in bloom in Paris still in October as well.

Was in Giverny last October. Absolutley breathtaking. You will see water lillies.

I was in Giverny on Oct 20 last year. The previous poster is correct - with the light that time of year you will get amazing photos. The flowers and lilies are still blooming. I was pleasantly surprised. We go when we can - and this was one of the highlights of our tour.
