Is mid-March a good time to visit Giverny?

I went last year right after it opened in March and honestly it was not ideal. It was not very crowded, which was nice, but there was not the blooms and riot of color that I had seen when I had gone in May years ago. So you still can see the waterlily garden, but there are no blooms in the water lilies.
