Gift Idea From The Eiffel Tower

If you are stumped trying to find the right gift for the Francophile in your life, you might want to look at this: http://sparkling.toureiffel.paris/

For just 450 euros you can purchase a light bulb from the Eiffel Tower. What a cool idea!

If you read the description it says it no longer lights up which is disappointing. Although that is probably the reason the light is no longer on the tower and for sale. A neat idea, thanks for sharing!

I'm looking at the expression of delight on my husband's face as he examines a burnt out lightbulb around the Christmas tree.

I guess this is a lesson in marketing -- what it's worth is whatever someone will pay for it. I'd take a pass myself and spend the 450 euros on almost anything else. ;-)

Hi everybody, I love the Eiffel Tower and just can't get over how beautiful it is when it lights up and twinkles. Our last visit was in September. We had been to the summit several times but this time we were on the Tower when it lit up at 9 p.m. It was a very different experience. Once we were done with our visit we hung around the Champs de Mars until it lit up again at 10 p.m. The lights were red, white, and blue. Very pretty (we have some great photos!).

I checked the other day to see if the Tower had re-opened (it was closed for a few days due to strikes) and saw the offer for the burnt out bulbs. An interesting idea but I think I'll save the 450 euros for my next trip!

You know, if money is no object and you have someone who has everything and loves Paris and its monuments, I can see it as a great souvenir. Certainly no worse than paying $$$ for old seats or pieces of playing field from some stadium being torn down. To each their own.

Personally, I would save the €450 for better things.

Hi Nancy, I agree, I'd love to have a piece of the Eiffel Tower. I wish you could have seen my BF's face when I told him about it and asked if he'd already found my Christmas present!
