When you buy tickets the day of your visit to walk up to the 1st and 2 level of the Eiffel Tower, can you buy a ticket on the 2nd level then for the summit? Looking for the very end of August/beginning September 2019. Any guess what the wait lines will be asides from security? Thank you.

No, not any longer.
We used to do this, so the first poster's answer surprised me. I went to the Eiffel Tower site and found things had changed. You can read what I found here:
It appears you can still go to the top as a walker, but you have to purchase the ticket when you purchase your ticket to walk up. At least that is how I read it. When we have done it, we get there a little before opening. Security lines were short, as was the line for the elevator to the top. (that line can get quite long as soon as enough people have come up the elevators). We did have to wait in a line to come down, but it was not too bad.
Thank you! I tried to research this, but didn't see this link. I'm planning on buying summit tickets online for when we go September of 2019, but want this as a back up in case the weather doesn't cooperate for that day. Plus I want to say I walked up the stairs of the Eiffel Tower to give cancer the big finger for ruining my original trip here in 2017.
We went to the top of Eiffel Tower two weeks ago. We bought tickets on-line (same link already provided) either 60 or 90 days before our visit. The tickets go fast. Honestly, not sure it was worth the time, money and energy. Tons of tourists. Packed in elevator and tower levels like sardines. Signs all over saying watch out for "pick pockets." Wish we would have gone to one of the museums instead. The Eiffel Tower is more pleasant to look at across the river rather than go up. Just my opinion.
