My granddaughter would like to go from Paris to Domremy-la-Pucelle using public transportation. Trains will get her close (as far as Neufchateau) but after that online searches either say to take a cab or take bus #4 for the last leg of the journey. The cab is too expensive and I can't find any proof of existence for bus #4. Does anyone know of such a bus? Or any other way to get from Neufchateau to Domremy?
This isn't my region at all, but I checked if there's a bus from Neufchâteau to Domrémy-la-Pucelle and found absolutely nothing on the regional bus network, nor on the Domrémy town website. I don't see any bus line 4 or any other bus line number.
Here are the official taxi fares for the Vosges region:
The journey from Neufchâteau to Domrémy is approximately 11 km.
Picking charge: €2.70
Round trip with the client: €1.10/km
One-way trip with the client, return trip without a passenger: €2.20/km
Waiting time: €21.20/hour
Thanks JoLui. I'll pass along the information. She'll want to spend some time there, so that would mean either paying for waiting time or paying the higher fare (€2.20/km) for a cab to drop her off, then come back and get her. I'm surprised to see that it's so difficult to get to Domremy.
Domrémy-la-Pucelle is a very small village with barely 100 inhabitants. That doesn't make it a place that would justify a public transport service, even if it is the birthplace of Joan of Arc.
For example in the Dordogne, even though there are many major internationally renowned tourist sites, most are inaccessible without a car. To summarize, in rural areas, it's almost impossible to get around without a car.
In Neufchâteau, there's an Uber-like chauffeur service:

Keep in mind that Uber-like fares aren't regulated like the taxi fares I've provided, so it could be cheaper...or not
Traditional taxis are rare in rural areas, and most of their business is providing medical transport for locals without cars (called VSL), so don't be surprised to see ambulance photos as well.

Obviously, your granddaughter will need to book in advance. She won't find a taxi at the station without booking.
Your granddaughter can also visit the Basilique Sainte-Jeanne-d’Arc, 2km south of Domrémy. Not realy spectacular, but if you are interested in the devotion of Joan of Arc as a national symbol it’s worth a visit. Driving from Neufchâteau easy to reach.
In Vaucouleurs north of Domrémy is a museum about her. Think it wasn’t there 20 years ago visiting the region, so no idea how interesting it is. Seems having an unique collection, so worth to consider to my opinion. Ofcourse will be expensive getting there with a taxi from Neufchâteau. Website museum is annoyingly French only, so needs translation.
