Getting to Bruges from Bayeux

We are traveling to Bruges from Bayeux at the end of May on a Friday. I understand that is a holiday in France . Does that affect the train schedule ? Also, I am thinking that we would take the train to Gard Saint Laraze and the taxi to Nord to catch the train to Brussels Midi and on to Bruges. Does this make sense or should we train between Paris stations. Thanks in advance.

The general plan Bayeux - St Lazare - cab to Nord - Bruges is sound. You can get from St Lazare to Nord by RER E to Magenta, which is connected to Nord; but with luggage and for peace of mind, I would take a cab.

To check if holidays affect your schedule, check the SNCF website.

Traffic will be quiet in Paris that day (middle of a holiday weekend), so a cab is the way to go! Shouldn't cost much more than €10.

Not to be a spoilsport but be sure you check out the current COVID-19 entry requirements for Belgium. We are tentatively scheduled to spend a few days in Bruges while on an extended trip to France, but upon seeing the current testing and quarantining requirements I am about to pull the plug on Bruges unless things change soon. Google the US embassy in Belgium website to see current guidelines, which include a test before entry and again one day after entry, with quarantining required until negative results are received. Sounds tricky, restrictive and expensive.

Thanks Elizabeth. I guess we will have to roll with the restrictions as our bike trip leaves from Bruges May 28. Maybe , things will change between now and then. I long for the days when you could travel freely. Seems like a bygone era.
