Getting off ship in le Havre port June 12...need to catch flight at Orly airport .arrive airport by 10:30 am. Help.
I am thinking that the best choice may be to consider changing your flight? Assuming that you are able to get off the ship by 8 am (big assumption), and you had a driver ready to drive you to the airport, it might work. If you could just change that flight by two hours later, you would have many more options.
How long before the flight is check-in and security? Add to that the time to get from onboard the ship to reach the car and then drive 2 1/4 hours to the airport. With luck, you’ll need about 4 hours. Book a later flight.
Carol & Phillip. I believe you're right. I'm hoping jet air will let me change my flight to later. Thanks so much. Carol
The drive itself is 3 hours. More if you hit traffic. You would need to be in the car no later than 7:30 but I would probably say 7:00 just to be safe.
Where are you flying to? What airline?
Flying from orly airport to Venice. Im trying to change my flight with easy jet. Asking me to reset my password. Hard to log in. Also questions for you all I found a train "Gard Saint Lazare". Is this orly airport where I get off? On train ticket it states several times "get off". 5 min walk?? Does this mean I get off the train? Sorry to sound like a dummy...thanks carol
I am not understanding your question here, but Gare St. Lazare is nowhere near Orly airport which is well out of Paris (although closer than CDG) and on the opposite side of town from Gare Dt. Lazare. If you are taking the train to Gare St. Lazare then it is certainly not 5 minutes to even the metro that gets you on your way to Orly.
You need to change your flight, but also need to have a clearer idea of how to get to Orly. If the train from your ship arrives at St. Lazare, then you would take the metro 14 to Chatelet-les Halles and switch to the RER B to Anthony and from there take the Orlyval transport to the airport. This trip takes about an hour. And the ship is several hours from Paris. Making this flight is not possible.
Looking at the Port schedule both the Regal and the Emerald Princess are due to dock at 7am.
There is no time shown for the Ambassador Ambience but I doubt you will be on her.
You need to allow at least one hour after the scheduled time of arrival for the ship to be cleared by port authorities, if you are self debarking (that is taking your own luggage, rather than have the luggage taken ashore for you and collected in the terminal). Thus you cannot be sure of being in the terminal building any sooner than 8.15am. If your luggage is transferred by the ship into the terminal people will be called ashore in groups, usually by deck, over the next couple of hours.
So even if you self debark you cannot physically be at Orly in time, even with the fastest driver. Looking this morning there seem to be several sets of roadworks on the way, and a live drive time is 2hr 28 minutes.
It would not be unheard of for a ship to be late into port for many reasons, so I would re-book this as a mid to late afternoon flight.
The first train you could possibly make out of Le Havre is at just after 10am, as there is a mid morning gap in service.
I know that the problem is the cruise lines sell Le Havre as Paris in the same way as they sell Southampton as London, or Invergordon as Inverness. It is a 'Ryanair' way of naming ports which has unfortunately caught you out.
This may be the only way to arrive at Orly in time... https://www.helicopterscharter.com/charter/from-to/helipad.php?icao=LFOH
My guess is changing your flight from Orly to Venice may be a cheaper alternative
Oh my thank you everyone! I thought Gard St Lazare was the train station in le Havre.! I'm so happy to have you all help me! Yes no problem to book a later flight to Venice. Taking our own luggage...nothing checked. Worried about making the 10 am train too ...may have to hire a driver? is a bus or a shuttle a possibility or too long? We're 80 & 82. Thanks again. We're on the princess regal docking at 7 am. I assumed there would be something into Paris from LEHAVRE that day. Maybe an excursion. But probably wouldn't take us to orly airport.
You could check for a driver at mydaytrip.com if you really want a driver rather than a train. It's sort of like long distance Uber. And you'd have to figure out where to have them pick you up (for example, can private vehicles access the port area or only official taxis? I have no idea). It doesn't help your timing issue, though.
Go into your Princess website and look at your options. There will be a place to click on excursions as well as the opportunity to see what transfers Princess is offering to Paris. If you have difficulty finding this, ask a friend or a travel agent to help you.
