Getting from Paris to CDG

Any recommendations on the best way to get to CDG to fly home? Our flight leaves tomorrow at 10:30 and we are debating the RER train (though are confused if there is line work/stoppage on it that will cause issues) or a taxi ( how much time should we allocate for morning traffic). Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

These days we take a taxi; it is reliable (never had one not show) and there is a fixed fee. We don't like to manage luggage up and down metro stairs to get to the RER. We order the day before on the English speaking cab line. In the overall cost of a trip, this is a minor expense. WE allow an hour for traffic but you can also give the company your departure time (padding it by half an hour) and they will advice you on when pickup should be. We plan at least 2 hour arrival before a flight but you also need to double check if that is still what your airline recommends -- sometimes it is longer.

Thank you for the info. Is there a recommendation for taxi service? These are what I'm showing for the CDG website:

Alpha Taxis - Reservation "Alpha Taxis": 01 45 85 85 85

Les Taxis Bleus - Reservation "Les Taxis Bleus": 01 41 52 54 25

G7 - Reservation "Taxis G7": 01 47 39 47 39 or 36 07 (€0.15/min)

G7 Horizon - Reservation "G7 Horizon": 01 47 39 00 91 (free call). Service accessible to passengers with reduced mobility

I take taxis from the airport, never to the airport. There is an additional charge of 4€ when calling a taxi, 7€ to arrange a future pickup time.

Going to the airport, consider the métro/RER B - 10.30€ or Bolt (app only) or FreeNow.

Allow at least one hour transit time. If you use the RER B, check the RATP website for possible delays or system disruptions.

I would call or use the G7 app

Their special English line is

+33.1.41.27.66.99

Fixed rate is 53€ from Right Bank to CDG, €58 from Left Bank. Plus 7€ fee for reserving in advance . This covers up to four passengers and their luggage.

We always use RER. It's cheaper, typically faster, and we feel more comfortable about reliability. That said, if your luggage is an issue or if there is a strike, I would use something like BOLT instead

I have schedule a G7 the night before on their website. They were waiting out front right on time!

Has anyone used Uber to get to the airport? Seems my husband has booked that...

The reason I do not recommend Uber in Paris is that, apparently, Uber pays drivers less than does Bolt or FreeNow. As drivers typically work for several companies simultaneously, Uber calls can go unanswered with priority given to Bolt or FreeNow customers. Additionally, Uber has been known to change destination rates while en route. It is for this latter reason that I never use them.

We have always used G7 and never use Uber because they are so exploitive of their drivers. when we were young and also stayed near an RER stop we used the RER but if there is any hint of a delay or work stoppage, I wouldn't. Theoretically the RER should be safest because no traffic jams. I always add a half hour to the taxi travel time and usually am at the airport anywhere from 2.5 to 3 hours in advance because I like to be VERY conservative with transport. We have had a tram break down on our way to catch a train in Amsterdam and had to walk a km with out luggage to the station to make the train; we have had a Thalys come in 5 hours late to Paris from Amsterdam when someone jumped in front of the train in the countryside near Rotterdam (lots of people on that train missed flights out of Paris) WE have had several weird flight situations including turning back and offloading a disruptive passenger in Gander when on our way from Chicago to Europe. So I like to build in contingencies. When using a cab, I always have the RER as back up and give enough padding to be able to run for the metro. We have never had to use plan B when booking a cab.

I signed up for BOLT a week or so ago. I received an offer for I think 30% off first ride.

Also consider Le Bus Direct. That's what we used last time. You can buy tickets ahead of time online, but they're good any time.

Le Bus Direct has suspended service and is no longer running.

Interesting. Right now we can't get either cc card to work on the G7 website and no one is answering on the English line. Not sure what is going on.

Hmmmm.
I just called the English G7 line, and a lady answered right away.

In many cities we take trains or buses to the airport, but we did a taxi in Paris. Wasn't too bad cost wise.
