Getting from Mont Saint Michel to Bayeux to Chartres.

We would like to go from Mont Saint Michel to Bayeux to Chartres using public transportation. Is this possible. If so would it be practical to spend two nights at Mont Saint Michel, one night at Bayeux and see both the Tapestry and the Cathedral, and then go by train to Chartres and get there at a reasonable hour, say 9:00 PM.
