Hi,
I’m solo traveling in France this Oct. I am trying to find a way to go from Limoges, (really to visit Oradour-sur-glané), to Nice. I’m train traveling. Is it better/cheaper/faster to return to Paris & then tgv to Nice? Bus & train from Limoges to Nice are long & flights too expensive. Any thoughts on this much appreciated. Thank you.
The recommended train connections in one day are like these. I searched for the wrong direction of travel, but see www.bahn.de or www.oui.sncf.com to explore more. You may have to input Paris as a via/midpoint if you want to see it.

Travel via Paris is also possible, but likely to cost more, and still technically requires 2 connections, due to changing stations in Paris, like this:

It's a minor thing, perhaps, but it's an important site.
There is no accent on the word Glane. It's the name of the river the town lies beside. To put an accent on it as you've done would change its pronunciation from "glawn" to "glawnay."
And that would be incorrect.
Hi,
Flying in October via Paris-Orly looks like it costs 110€ at best (you might have to split the tickets), which isn't that bad.
Anything else looks awkward and probably not cheaper.
- Flight to Lyon, then train to Nice, but it's a long train ride with poor connections
- train to Toulouse then flight to Nice looks fine too, but the train times might not work very well. Worth a shot still.
Or, also look at car-sharing website Blablacar, to get out of Limoges to Toulouse or Lyon, for instance. Doesn't work too far ahead of time, but you can look for sample dates in the next week or two.
I visited Oradour-sur-Glane from Limoges just a few days ago. I don't know whether the bus schedule will be the same in October, but I had a choice of taking the trip in the morning or in the afternoon. I chose morning. The afternoon would have been better for me, because the bys schedule would have allowed more time in Oradour. The museum-like memorial center has a good English-language audio guide that took a lot of time, and I had little time left at the site itself, not wanting to risk missing my planned bus since there was such a long wait (5 hours?) for the next one. If you are not the sort who wants to read every bit of information in a history museum, taking the morning bus will probably be fine for you.
