Getting from Charles De Gaule airport to hotel in Paris

5 of us are going to Paris arriving via CDG airport. What is the best way for us to get to our hotel in Paris? 4 of us are over 65, one is over 50. Thanks in advance.

Take a taxi from the official taxi rank at CDG. Ignore anybody offering you a taxi/car service - use official taxi rank. Fixed fare from CDG to Left Bank 55€, Right Bank 50€ – that is for 4 people w/luggage. Since you'll split the cost it is fairly comparable to taking the RER - and MUCH easier. (PS - tip not necessary)

That is near the Eiffel Tower and is considered Left Bank, so 55€

Yes, they have mini vans. The fixed fare is for 4 persons with a surcharge for additional people. Not sure how much. Sorry I read your post as 4 people :-) . I just read that the additional fare is 4€ for a 5th person. The post is older, but could still be current because this is now law that they fixed the fares.

editing: Just read a more current article that says the same - 4€ for additional person. A good practice is toe write the name and address - including the zip - and the fare you expect to pay. Hand it to the driver so there is no misunderstanding. Also, if you wish to pay by credit card, verify with driver that the CC machine works before departing. Or, tell the person operating the taxi rank you must have a taxi with an operating CC machine.

It's 4E for each person over 4. So, 59E for your Left Bank location. No need to tip but you can give the driver 60E if you want to.

You'll get in the line at the taxi stand and when you get to the front of the line the taxi manager will call up a van for you. He may ask you to step to the side of the line while a suitable van pulls up. It should not be more than a few minutes. Do not go with someone who comes up to you in the terminal and asks if you want a taxi. Follow the overhead signs to the door marked Taxis and go outside for the line.

What Pam said is correct — 59€ for 5 people to your Left Bank Hotel.

And FWIW. If the 5 of you took the train and carried your luggage up and down stairs and then found your hotel on foot in a strange city it would cost about 52 Euros for the 5 of you.

I just did this last fall. We arrived Terminal2A but I believe the official taxi rank was outside the next terminal. Several people were standing right at the exit door trying to get us to take their taxi, within 10 feet of the official taxi line. We were 5 women ages 50 to 70 with luggage.

When we arrived to the front of the official taxi line (within 5 minutes), the dispatcher asked us to step aside and called for a van. It arrived up the ramp from pkg garage below within about 8 to 10 minutes. We paid the flat rate plus 4E but gave driver 60E to round up. We had a lot of luggage:)

Listen to the advice on using the official taxis. When we landed at CDG in May someone came up to us asking if we were going to Paris. We said yes, but wanted an official taxi. He waved in the direction of the taxi stand and said “oh, those don’t go to Paris.” I had enough French to understand and tell him to go away. We gave the official taxi driver the name and address of our hotel and we agreed on 55 euros.

The next day we met a couple who were staying at the Marriott at Euro Disney, which is about the same distance as Paris from the airport. They took the first taxi driver that came up to them and were charged 340 euros! I once again said “Thank goodness for the Travel Forum!

(They were also coming to the conclusion that having a free stay at the Marriott wasn’t worth the time and expense of commuting into Paris each day.)

Booked a shuttle van for CDG airport to hotel in Paris for two on Expedia for 9/15/19 for $36.00 USD.
Booked a private car for hotel in Rome to FCO airport for two on Expedia for 9/30/19 for $49.00 USD.

if you do book a shared shuttle, then at least don't pay in advance. When they don't show, kiss your money goodbye.

Do not book a shared shuttle.

With the fixed-rate taxi fares in Paris to and from the airports, there is simply no reason to book a shuttle. That goes doubly so since you are a party of five.

Shuttles ceased being a good and reasonable option when the fixed-rate fares for airport trips went into effect. I don’t know why people continue to plug them for Paris. They are a poor use of one’s money and one’s time.

A taxi to Disney is definitely more expensive than the fixed rate to Paris, but not €340.

Uber is reasonable and plentiful. Taxis from/to airport are flat rate so also good but I would avoid once in Paris. There are some buses as well but recently service sucks..

Legal taxis can use the dedicated bus lanes on surface streets which Uber cannot.
