I am trying to decide the best scenario for travel from Chamonix to Paris in July. Would it be better to take the train from 1 pt to the other, or the shuttle to the Geneva Airport to CDG?

The train from Chamonix to Geneva is slower than the shuttle, but the train might be
cheaper, especially if you cannot share the shuttle ride.
The middle ground is to take a bus, which is fast and cheap. But you have to make
your way to the bus station (Chamonix Sud) to catch it. There are a few bus companies
that make the trip.
I'm assuming you're taking the train to Paris from Geneva, so if you can get to Cornavin
rather than GVA, you'll save a bit of time to catch the train. If you take the train out of
Chamonix too, you can probably buy a single ticket for the entire journey.
