After 3 days esay way to get to Geneva airport for flight home. Flight is at 14:50 ..so we can stay in Annecy the night before. Will need to find a testing place in Annecy on the 4th of September.

Train to Annecy from Chamonix. Also, the train to the Geneva airport is about 2 hours from Annecy. Looks like one leaves every hour.

BlahBlahBus takes about 90 minutes to Annecy and leaves at the Chamonix South terminal (a parking lot) not far from the access to the Aquille du Midi. It is cheap and quick. There are several, the last one leaves at 3. The train involves at least two connections and can take as much as 4 hours -- usually 2.5 or so. We did a day trip this way in May and it worked well.

For Annecy to Geneva airport, the bus is much quicker than the train if the times work for you. It takes about 1:15, and the line is TPG (Geneva public transit) line 272.

Janet : thank you for the information… When you took the BlahBlah bus did it require changing bus several times? I googled it and it looks like maybe 2 transfers .. I thought I read a couple years ago about a ride share that would take you directly.. That was back in 2020 when we first booked this tour.. Now I can’t find that information.

hey hey TravelNana
gonna add some info about our stay, may work for you, you can decide.
we spent 6 nights in annecy sept/oct 2019 and loved it and all it's beauty. a little different than yours, we took train from paris to geneva, spent 2 nights and then a taxi to annecy.
we hired taxi-massingy.com gaelle is the owner, speaks english and great to deal with emails. we paid 95E for about half hour ride. the train was gonna take 2 1/2 hours with 2 stops. it was all worth it. we went back to paris on the train for 8 days
also did a 5 hour private tour with her around lake to villages, had lunch at lafermedelacharbonniere.com
a rustic working dairy ranch, restaurant with glass floors to see cows below in stables, prix fixe special 24E, pizza oven on table with cheese made there, baguettes, potatoes and other goodies plus ice cream. was yummy and different.
pass castle at menthon st. bernard that disney visited which inspired disneyland's snow white castle
went to annecy castle, basilica in annecy where pope said a mass,
col dela forclaz (one of my favorites) stopped to watch hang gliders soaring above you and the lake, "alp" style homes in the green rolling hills with cows grazing the fields wearing cowbells, sounding like a concert, music to my ears since mom was a cowgirl growing up on a ranch on big island hawaii. bought 2 cowbells at gift shop, then a ride thru some mountain passes with view up high with snow on mountains
la cure gourmande 1 rue de la paix
small shop with bisquits, cookies, chocolate. pick and choose and i did, pack in gorgeous french decorated tin boxes
annecycitytour.com
creperie ti mad 21 rue royale
savory and sweet crepes
rotisserie du thiou 17 passage de I eveche
small alley near canal, in city center, had prix fixe fondue special for lunch with rose wine and outside table. hole in the wall owned by husband and wife. so relaxing, fun and another yummy place.
al vesuvio 13 rue de I'lle
pizza and calzones made to order, rose wine, outside table to people watch and enjoy. was so good to eat something different
fridays & saturdays are market days, gets busy but fun to roam around the canals, people watch, shops, bakeries, art galleries, small hotels, great architecture, take a boat ride
brasserie saint charles 46 rue du parmelan
bar/cafe near our apt. sat outside, had the best beef stroganoff lunch special, wine and charcuterie platter. more yummy food.
enjoy your holiday and hope this gives you some info that can help you out. we had a blast
aloha

Princess Pupule, Oh my gosh Thank you so much.. I have sent an inquiry to the taxi service to see if I can hire them. We are doing a Rick Steves My Way Tour which ends in Chamonix. Since we have only traveled on guide tours I am a bit anxious about figuring everything out on our own.
I will post back and let you know.. I am already feeling less stressed.
Thanks again

There were no transfers on the BlahBLahBus from Annecy to Chamonix or back -- direct trips both times. They made one stop at a town along the way.

hey hey nana
you are so welcome, just trying to help and give info. was our first time there, my best friend is french basque, and wanted to go to annecy, great decision on her part. don't hear much here about annecy so i just rambled on. i'm the researcher and planner, tell her and it's yes or no from her. but one thing is gotta stay in paris, her favorite city. even though was a crazy time then, so packed and crowded with ex president cheraq passing, fashionista and photographer week, big wig politicians in limousines, sirens all day everywhere, street muscians, cops with their uzi's, tanks, guns every street corner, techno music parade. time to sit at bistro with appetizers and wine to people watch haha
getting my bags packed now for my trip back home to hawaii (kona) to see family and enjoy. been 2 years and 3 months and they waiting for me.
another funny story, would never eat escargot, put another glass of chardonnay in front of me and had waiter feed me near eiffel tower. so so crazy, dipped my baguette bread in "juice" and it was yummy. another funny, on a mission to find best eclair, few places were okay, but the one at les deux magot cafe in st germaine des pres was 16 E!!! OMG oh well, help that there was a great band playing street music.
and of course my passion fruit souffle at la cuisine de philippe in paris.
you know we had a great time, just go with the flow, not worth it to stress out.
stressed spelled backwards is desserts, enjoy

Janet I googled blahBlah bus and it says no buses on my dates.. maybe it is just too far out? Was the bus a actual bus or more like a van?
Thanks

Interesting. There were several buses on the days we were there in May and it was a regular giant coach type bus -- very comfortable. We booked the day before because we were not going to do it unless the weather was great.

I had similar problems trying to plan this weeks out when I also found no bus availability but tried it when we were in Annecy and discovered that the buses were running fine. We went on a Wednesday day trip Annecy to Chamonix and back leaving at about 9:30 am/arriving at about 11 and returning at 3 (arriving at 4:30) which ws the time we needed for the Aquille du Midi and a nice lunch at the half way Cable station.
