Hello,
we will be visiting Aix en Provence this August.
Must admit some confusion about getting from the Aix en Provence TGV station into the city center. It appears there is a shuttle bus from the TGV station into Aix city center, but wondering if there is a way to get a train directly there (to the city center of Aix).
Thanks,
BT
I think your only choices are taxi or shuttle bus. The shuttle bus is easy and cheap. I stayed at a hotel that was an easy, flat walk from the bus station, but if your hotel isn't as close, you might prefer a taxi. I was told a taxi would be €40.
While there is a train station in Aix, you cannot reach it from Aix TGV, so take said shuttle bus (or taxi if your destination is not central).
There is no rail service from Aix TGV to the original Aix city station. The Aix city station is served by trains on the route from Marseilles to Gap or Briancon, so if you are travelling from Marseille pick a local TER service rather than a TGV.
Hi, William,
The Cartreize Bus 40 is the actual name of the “shuttle “ and it leaves frequently from the TGV station lower level. Comfortable, not expensive, this is what Aix residents use, as well as visitors. It arrives right in the town center. If we knew the area where you are staying, perhaps we could provide more specific guidance. Have a great time in this beautiful town!
Thanks for the great advice everyone. The shuttle sounds like it will work just fine.
Thanks !
