Getting a tattoo in Paris?

Hello everyone,
My husband and I want to get tattoos while in Paris. However while researching online, I don't speak French. I've downloaded an app and started taking lessons, but I probably speak like a toddler:). Any knowledge would be highly appreciated. We would like to have an appointment before we go, as good artists often are busy and do not take walk ins. I asked our travel agent and she sent me an useless article. All help will be appreciated. Thank you much. And no, we don't have planned tattoos, these will be random tattoos inspired by our trip. My husband prefers black and grey.

Take a look at Tin Tin Tatouage in Montmartre. There is an artist there who specializes in darker colors. Also Kustom Tattoo on Avenue de Republique. There is also a place called Abraxas that is supposedly, like Tin Tin, the place where the rich and famous get tattoos in Paris. You can also search for places on Ink Magazine's website -- there was an article a couple of months ago about the best tattoo artists in Paris. As you stated, you will need to make appointments ahead at all the places that I mentioned. Some of them have a long lead time for you to get an appointment.

I'm looking around the room here and not seeing anyone who I would trust for tattoo advice. A quick google search will bring up websites, with examples of their work and google reviews. Many mentioned by JHK. Ink Magazine is also a good resource.
Secondly, I think you underestimate the language skills of the young and hip in Paris. English is very much the go-to language. You should talk them, and see if you are comfortable with their English. I think that if I were getting a tattoo, I would want to be certain that me and the Tatoueur were on the same page.

I think that this is probably not a site with a lot of tattoo experts. I know that I am not one given that I have no tattoos. But, I have an adult niece who is very into tattoos and visits Paris often. The same is true for a friend of mine, who used to be my assistant. Both provided me with the names that I mentioned. My niece got a tattoo during her honeymoon in Paris from Abraxas and she said that the artists were all completely fluent in English. My friend who is now in her mid-sixties got a tattoo about 2 years ago at Tin Tin and said that her guy spoke perfect English.

Be sure to stop in at WOS on Rue Saint Jacques in the Latin Quarter. Best Packer bar in Europe.
