Geneva to paris

We are traveling from Geneva back to Paris in June...on our way to Bayeax. My first choice is to train. We will be in Geneva by noon that day...train to Paris...train to Bayeux. Long travel day. Now I’m reconsidering & looking at flights to Paris. Thoughts? Fly into CDG? Flight is a little over an hour...then get out of CDG, xfer to train station, yyy. I’m afraid CDG could eat any time savings by flying. Open to all suggestions!

I would take the train, no need to bother with flying. Then in Paris catch the regional train at Gare St Lazare for Bayeux.

Are you arriving in Geneva from North America and planning to turn around and go to Bayeux immediately, or will you have spent some time in Switzerland and just end up in Geneva before you head to France?

We will have spent several days in Switzerland already. We will be heading back to Geneva..others are flying out from there...so that is why we will be at the airport. I haven’t looked at moving between the airport & the train statio in Geneva...hoping it’s close.

Trains connect the airport and Geneva Cornevin station about every 15 minutes and its a 7 minute trip. You can just book the train tickets as starting at Geneva Airport.

As Sam says, you will find few places in the world where the airport and main train station are as well linked. The station at the airport is right at the terminal, and hop any train train leaving the airport and in 7 minutes you are at the compact main station, for your onward TGV. Getting to the airport is even easier - many trains arriving at Geneva from around Switzerland actually terminate at the airport - just stay on until the last stop just after Geneva main station.

Looking at your itinerary on Rome2Rio, it seems flying is not a bad choice at (theoretically) 2H32M by plane plus short bus and train rides. The train alone is all day with three trains including a transfer in Paris. I hate the whole security mess when flying, but even accounting for that, since you are already at GVA, flying seems reasonable and I don’t think I would like starting out as late as noon and then having almost 8 hours by train ahead of me. Starting at 8:00am, I would be OK with the train.

I actually came to the same conclusion after reading your post. I have found an AF flight that will work...& ultimately get me to Bayeux much earlier. We are not checking any luggage, so hoping CDG might just work for me. Thanks so much.
