I will travel with my wife and a 14 yr old from Geneva airport to Chamonix on 21/10/23. How can we travel ? We don't want to drive. I am hearing that due to off season, we will not get shared transport and have to take private transport. Is this information correct ?

Flixbus has direct buses from Geneva airport to Chamonix at 10:45, 14:30, 17:35, and 20:35 on October 21.
Alpy Bus (shared transport) will be running then. When I used them it was a van, not a full-size bus. All English-speaking.
There are a number of transfer services that offer transportation from Geneva to Chamonix. I believe this is the one I used, and their service was great - https://www.chamexpress.com/ .
