Geneva Switzerland airport to Charmonix France

If you want to rent a car it's only about an hour to drive. There is a huge parking lot in Chamonix that is walkable to the whole town.
No train unless you want to go all the way to Martigny and then to Chamonix...about 2.5 hours.
There is also a bus that is easy to take...about 1.5 hours. Altibus is the name and it takes you straight from the airport in Geneva to Chamonix.

I've also been researching travel on the same route, and the best option appears to be one of the many shared Shuttles. Some will take you directly to your hotel.

I've been meaning to check in on this , but tiling a bathroom has been consuming my time . I think an appropriate position on this comes under the heading of " getting there is half the fun " The jitney shuttles are indeed the fastest and most straightforward way to get to Chamonix . You don't have to go via Martigny ( across Lake Geneva via Montreaux ) to get there ( There are train connections - Tram from Geneva to Annemasse , France - train to Chamonix via St Gervais , Le Fayet ) and a car is a great way ! BUT , if you go by rail via Martigny , you are in for a treat - From Martigny ,the narrow gauge Mont Blanc Express takes you high into the Trient Gorge through to Chamonix with a change at Vallorcine , Eye candy of the first order ! Depending on how long your stay in Chamonix is , a car has distinct advantages , allowing you to access some of the other places nearby with ease ( Megeve , St Gervais , etc ) . Depends on how much time you have to devote to the area .
