I'll be traveling to France in May and looking for a good resource for gas/petrol availability as well as train & flight strikes. I was thinking to sign up for the Connexion or The Local. Any advice or opinions about which might be more useful? Any other advice for keeping up-to-date?

I wouldn't bother with The Connection or The Local.
Go straight to where they get their information (before they manage to mangle it)
