I suggest visiting the site / downloading the app for Gares360 which is a website for literally walking through French train stations via 360 degree videos. Once actually at the Gare you can easily transit to platforms, ticketing areas, locating "yellow boxes" and taxi stands. Having wandered thorough trains stations with little orientation than poor maps or stressed from trying to find my next train platform this is a godsend. Have a look. It's fun just to explore.
