Coming in to Montparnassee station and then leaving for Gare de Nord the next day going to Amsterdam. What are some hotels in this Montparnassee area and is it easy to get to Gare de Nord from here? Would it be better to stay in the Gare de Nord area?
Thanks,
There is the Pullman Montparnasse, the Concord Montparnasse and the Novotel Montparnasse - -all of which are pretty much extremely close to Gare Montparnasse. I have not stayed in any of them but have walked past or into them and all seem fine. It's easy to get from Gare Montparnasse to Gare du Nord. Just jump on Metro line 4 heading toward Clignancourt. I personally would stay near Gare du Nord if my train leaves early in the morning because I like to be near my next departure point without having to deal with possible transit issues. I am fine with the area near Gare du Nord but there are many people who do not like the area. If you decide to stay near Gare du Nord, there is an Ibis on Rue De Saint Quentin that is a good choice for a one-night stay.
I like to stay at the Alesia stop on line 4. The Alesia area is residential Paris at its best. There's cinemas, fantastic restaurants, and nice hotels. I stay at the Ibis Styles Alesia which is quite small, but does the trick and has great prices. Alesia is super close to Montparnasse and also Denfert-Rochereau.
Don't let having to get to the Gare du Nord take over your trip. Paris is quite easy to access thanks to the metro.
