Hi everyone! This month, I'm flying to Paris (CDG) & taking the RER to Gare du Nord to meet with a friend coming in from London. Where is the easiest spot to meet up at in Gare du Nord?
I suggest picking a track number on ground floor (Niveau 0), the level where the Eurostar arrives, and meeting at the front of the track i.e. where the front of the arriving trains will be. My suggestion is track 3.
Edit: I am not sure if you plan to take the metro from Gare du Nord with your friend but it could be that you will need to use a second metro ticket for the post-meetup metro trip.
That's a great idea, JHK! My flight lands at CDG at 1:05p & my friend's train comes in at 3:48p so I'm hoping that 2h45 mins will be enough time to get through customs, make my way to the RER & get into Paris (haha).
As for the post-meetup, we're gonna make it easy on ourselves & take a taxi to the hotel :)
Please remember be aware with the taxis at Gare du Nord and get the taxi from the official taxi line. Drivers have attempted to scam me a Gare du Nord the last few times I took a taxi from there after getting off the Eurostar.
Every trip to Paris I go through Gare du Nord ie, taking the RER B to CDG, going on day trips to towns in northern France served by Nord, plus my hotels are in the Nord neighborhood or directly opposite of the station.
I would suggest the meeting point to be where the public playing piano is located (it's on the ground floor) or nearby in front of the "RELAY" shop with its big red sign.
The problem with Relay as a meeting point is that there are several. Thus you both go to "the" Relay and can't find each other because you are each at a different one !
JHK's idea ensures that both parties find the same place.
Starbucks only one in the station
Under the clock would be traditional.
Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone! Since I have 2h45mins to get from CDG to Gare du Nord, I'll try to meet my friend at the track when her train arrives. I'll also have a Plan B...just in case.
I met my friend under the clock last year and it worked out well. Have a great trip!
