Gare du Nord- Does RER B go to CDG at 6:00 am on Sunday?

Flying to Bergen at 9:20 am on Sunday with my little girl. Have Navigo Decouverte, want to use Metro line 4 at 5:30 a.m. from Montparnasse to Gare du Nord, then RER B to CDG at-6:00 am because I know I need to be at the airport at least two hours in advance, even though I will check us in online and no checked bags.

Worried because on our way in from CDG on Tuesday, the RER B was delayed by 90 minutes because of an accident. No big deal as we were just coming to our hotel, but when I need to make our flight out, a delayed metro or train will make us miss our flight to Bergen.

If RER B is delayed, Taxi stand at Gare du Nord with all the construction sounds not fun. Also, at 6:00 a.m. on a Sunday, are there even any taxis there? If anything goes wrong, I doubt there will be many employees around the Gare to help us at 6:00 a.m on Sunday. Should I get a hotel at the airport to avoid a problem? Decoverte transit card can get me to CDG , so do not want to pay 55-60 Euro for a taxi from our hotel in Montparnasse Sunday morning. Thoughts?

Depending on the exact location of your hotel, it is likely to be easier to take line 6 from Edgar Quinet to Denfert-Rochereau than line 4 to Gare du Nord. There is also a chance that line 4 does not run on Sunday morning, it is often the case lately (planned works). The first metro is at 5:40 AM, which should get you to the airport by 6:45. For a 9:20 flight, it is generous - personally, I'd aim to arrive a bit later, but it's OK if you want more extra time.
Technical issues are very unlikely this early in the day, and even if you arrive one hour late, you should still make it.

I probably would not spend the night at the airport for a 9.20 flight within Europe. A lot of hassle to save maybe 1.5 hours of sleep.

I took that same flight to Bergen a week and a half ago (but on a weekday morning, not a Sunday).

I got a bit nervous as when I got to Châtelet and was waiting for the RER B, it kept not showing up and affixing "delayed." Eventually within maybe 15 minutes or so, a train finally came, and finally went on, so it worked out okay. But I was definitely having that am I going to have to go up to the surface and get a taxi feeling.

All things being equal, you should be fine. The problem is you can't know ahead of time whether there will be a problem. So you have to keep your own adaptability in mind too.

Sunday morning there is zero traffic in Paris. You have options.

  1. Metro/RER - I would take M6 to Denfert Rochereau because it is likely faster, and you avoid the long underground walk from Montparnasse to M4. You can check the RER status before you commit to this route: www.ratp.fr. Better yet is to download and use the Citymapper app.

  2. Have one of the VTC apps downloaded and configured: Bolt, FreeNow, or Uber (in my order of preference). This is to avoid any problems if the RER is delayed.

  3. Taxi, from the official taxi queue - 62€, no dispatch fees, drivers are not tipped.

Just saw the signs, line 4 is indeed closed this Sunday morning 17.09, so you have to take line 6!
