Gardens at Giverny in late Sept?

We would like to know if the gardens at
Giverny will be in bloom at the end of September & worth visiting after our trip to Brittany? Thanks.

Yes, I have been there as late as mid-October and there are still a lot of flowers. Summer flowers, like roses, will be pass their prime, but the dahlias and other late summer/fall blooms should be in great form. My favorite part of the garden is the pond, which doesn't have a lot of blooming plants, but offers wonderful photo ops. I find the late summer/fall light results in great pictures.

I was there at the beginning of October and the gardens were nothing short of spectacular. They do a good job at maintainence and deadheading, etc.

I’ve been several times from the end of Sept to mid-Oct. as the others indicate there is a lot blooming and it is very worthwhile. Two different years I watched some guys in rowboats muck out the waterlily pond and with Fall colors behind them it was beautiful!!

Give yourselved enough time to walk thru town to the churchyard where the Monet family is buried. There is also a memorial there to an RAF bomber crew that was shot down on June 7th 1944, I think, right outside of town.

What's Monet without water lilies? I went in mid-September and the pond looked nearly as colourful as all those paintings. And the park will probably not be inflicted by as many tour buses.

My first visit was in Mid-October 2011 and it was gorgeous. I was so excited to go back last month. I figured that if October was so nice, June would be spectacular. I went on Tuesday, June 20th. While it was probably my favorite day of my 12 days in Paris, and the gardens were as beautiful as I thought they would be, it was crazy crowded. I arrived when they opened and it was already overrun with people, including multiple tour groups. October was less crowded. After going through the gardens and water garden twice and the house once I had lunch at Baudy. It's an easy walk from Monet's place just down the main street. It was delicious and a very nice way to finish off the day in Giverny.

The web site has information about what flowers are in bloom each month; they work hard to keep it looking wonderful and close it during the months when that isn't possible.

Thanks, everyone for your replies! You have convinced me to visit the gardens after our time in Brittany. Nice to know we won't be competing with multides of tour buses at that time of year!
