I have registered for G7 and would like to reserve a taxi for our arrival at CDG. For our arrival at Terminal 2 E is there any other information I to provide? Will a G7 Taxi be waiting in the taxi que or elsewhere?
Honestly, I’d just go to the taxi queue and let the line manager point you to a taxi. It may well be a G7 and you can pay thru the app if you like.
Were you thinking there might be a problem with having a taxi available?
For our first night we will be staying at the Paris Marriott Charles de Gaulle Airport and we were concerned about the taxi que drivers refusing to take us such a short distance.
I agree with Pam. I personally wouldn’t worry too much about the distance. Also, not sure about this, but would think if you book a G7 to come to CDG to take you a few miles, you might well pay a lot for it. Not my business but if you’re visiting and staying in Paris why spend the first night near the airport?
A G7 taxi technically cannot take you to your destination anyway, you need to use a "banlieue" (suburbs) taxi. The people in the taxi line will direct you accordingly, and there are signs.
Using the hotel shuttle would probably be just as easy, though.
BJL- we are staying at the airport our first night to recover from an 11 hour flight. Will be picking up our rental car the next morning and heading to the Loire Valley and later to Saint-Cyprien, Dordogne.
We have visited Paris and France many times before and are seniors so realize personal comfort and sanity are important for a smooth trip.
Balso-
Thank you, however we have learned our hotel shuttle is not running during our time of arrival. Yes, we can call and request it, however, we did that on a previous trip and waited on the platform at the train station in the cold for almost an hour.
I think we will be taking our chances with the taxi queue manager’s assistance this trip.
Two choices: first the airport does have taxis that run within the area. We once had to get to the terminal quickly from near the Marriott and our hotel called one. It was costly.
Second, for a little bit more, about $50, I'd stay at the Sheraton, which is also a Marriott property. The advantage is that it is inside the airport Terminal 2. You do not need a shuttle, a taxi, service is very good. The price of the taxis back and forth will be the same as the difference between the two hotels.
Why that hotel? Stay inside the airport in one of the hotels found within the four walls...problem solved. Get up the next morning refreshed, get your rental. and drive on.
Mojo Rabbit- Marriott Points and this hotel is a tradition with our family. Old habits etc., etc. I read on TripAdvisor about some having shuttle issues and some saying shuttle was super convenient. For piece of mind, we will just take a taxi.
Bets- thank you! Forgot about Sheraton being part of the Marriott family now.
Update.
Pam- you were spot on. We arrived yesterday at about 2pm. No wait at taxi que. I asked manager if there was an issue with taking such a short trip to the Marriott CDG. She said no. We asked the driver and he also said no problem. It was about 15 euros, Service included. Well worth it vs calling and waiting for hotel shuttle.
You just need to follow the signs to exit/sortie above and chose taxi without reservation vs app/reservation.
What we had forgotten about was the long walk/tram to baggage claim. Your passport is also checked before entering baggage claim. Bags were up in about 20 minutes. That part was easy.
I am going to post separately about Paris Marriott CDG.
Thanks for the update! Glad it worked out well!
