Help! Usually I can do the logistics of a trip but I am overwhelmed. Heath challenges mean that I need to focus on medical treatments until 2 days before we leave. Dad is great but at 91 he cannot walk more than 2 blocks at a time. God bless him...he keeps saying' you know what I wouldn't mind doing.....and adding more to our list. We have tickets to the moulin rouge.
Can anyone tell me how far the funicular is from there? And do I need a transport card. Also any restaurants near by. We are not fussy. Thanks.

Sent you a PM

Are you planning to use Metro? Be aware that making underground line connections between some of the stations entails really long walking distances, lots of stairs and steps both up and down, and it is far from ideal for your dad (or as many people learn the hard way, if you are lugging your bags).
The funicular is not far as the crow flies to/from the Moulin Rouge, but from Moulin Rouge, it is up a steep incline of streets just to get to the base of the funicular for the ride up to Sacre Coeur. My recommendation is to hire a taxi or Uber to get up to or back down from Sacre Coeur if that is your goal with the funicular.
I would use taxis, uber, etc., to get around to these and other Paris sites with the physical limitations he has.
to see Montmartre I'd suggest the little train which tools through the prettier streets; it used to come by the apartment we used to rent on Caulaincourt. This is a rough part of town to be in if walking is a challenge. And yes to buses and not metro. If he uses a cane it will also signal his need for a seat -- he is entitled to one at his age, but the buses are full of people who can't use the metro so a cane is helpful here.
I'd also consider the canal boat tour where you see parts of Paris you don't ordinary see while sitting down. I would not ordinarily recommend it -- but it would be perfect for someone who has trouble getting around.
Also any restaurants near by. We are not fussy.
If you are not fussy, There is a Five Guys hamburger place across the street from the Moulin Rouge. A flat 100 feet walk from the MR and from the Blanche metro station. But the Metro has stairs.
We did the dinner package at the Moulin Rouge and felt it was worth the price to have a dinner and a show all in one place.
But since you already have tickets....
Anything North East of the Moulin Rouge towards Sacré- Couer will be uphill.
If you need to know what restaurants are within walking distance of the Moulin Rouge, go to Apple Maps, enter moulin rouge and it will give you a nice map with all the outline of the buildings and restaurants nearby. Click on the restaurant name or icon and it will give you reviews.
Probably the same feature in Google maps.
My advice - this does depend on how long you're there - spring for the Navigo Decouverte, weekly pass, good Monday through Sunday (purchase Thursday or later the week before). Requires a photo but the 35 Euro (5 for the card, which is good for 10 yrs and 30 for the pass) is well worth it and you can hop on any bus, metro, AND the funicular.
parisbytrain.com is a great resource.
