From Lourdes to Barcelona 2025

Hello fellow travelers I have a two part question. I have searched the forum for a similar question, however any similar questions/ responses are over 6 -9 years old.

I will be in Lourdes, France for service in July. Once service is done I wanted:

1- To go to San Sebastián (Donastia) most likely get there by bus and the question is what is the best way to get from San Sebastián to Barcelona. I found to go to Bilbao from San Sebastián and catch a flight to Barcelona.

or

2- Go from Lourdes to Barcelona. I found that I would have to take two different train lines. TGV from Lourdes to Toulose, from Toulose take the Renfe train to Barcelona.

Which ever option I pick are those options doable or any other suggestions?

Thank you in advance for any feedback

There is a direct train daily at 7am from San Sebastian to Barcelona arriving at just after 1pm, also a 1 change option (at Vittoria, 27 minutes between trains) at 2pm arriving at 9.35pm

By the time you have gone from San Sebastian to Bilbao then the airport, check in etc, flight, then into Barcelona City chances are that the 7am train is faster.

San Sebastian Airport has flights to Barcelona on Vueling.

To get to San Sebastian just take a SNCF train to Hendaye, and board the Euskotren there. Euskotren basically runs a suburban train service that reaches all the way to Hendaye. Cheap and runs every half hour. Buy your ticket at the station in Hendaye.

For Lourdes - Barcelona you can do this on SNCF all the way. I would not bother with RENFE here, as you will start on SNCF anyway, and SNCF and RENFE loathe each other at the moment. RENFE currently does not run to Toulouse, but might do so again in the future.

In both scenarios book your trains with www.sncf-connect.fr
