From Italy to France

We are trying to get from Torino, Italy to Lyon France. What is best way to accomplish this? Train? Bus?

We took the train from Torino to Lyon, but we also stopped at Annecy for a couple of days. We really liked all three of those locations. Enjoy!

That's a great idea! Thanks. We'll be traveling in Early April. Do I need to pre-reserve those train tickets?

Trains departing Torino toward France are reserved TGV/Oui trains that run just a few times per day and could fill up. To Annecy, you would connect to a train that does not require reservations. There's no deadline to buy tickets but different levels of advance-purchase discount (the earlier the better, starting about 4 months in advance of travel) are offered on a limited number of seats and those prices are much more attractive than full fare. See the French Railway directly or our US agent.

Train is the best. It's about four hours.

The easiest way to buy tickets (easier interface, lesser chance of US credit card getting rejected, no surcharges like Rail Europe) is trainline.eu.

Tickets typically go on sale 92 days before the departure date. Buy early for the best prices.

Trains to Lyon depart from Torino Porta Susa station (not Porta Nuova).
