from Beaune to Chamonix, France to Turin, Italy

I am trying to find our transportation from Beaune to Chamonix and then on to Turin, Italy. Is it best to do bus and train or rent a car? I see that there are several private roads in Italy. The time is a factor because some of the bus schedules are so long that it's not worth it. Please advise.

Checking Rome to Rio I see the bus and train routes/times for Beaune to Chamonix as being about 5 1/2 hours for a overnight bus or 7 hours for a train that meanders around before reaching Chamonix. It is only 2 1/2 hours to rent a car and drive (i have done this trip by train myself, but spread out over several days--lots of mountain ranges to circle around). If your in a hurry I would rent the car for this. Easy drive.
From Chamonix it is an easy train ride down to Turin. A rental car only save a little time but you have to deal with across border fees with car return.

I think it would be more like 4 hours drive than 2 1/2 from Beaune to Chamonix. I would not rely on rome2rio for times...
Bit it is true that going from someplace not Paris to some other place not Paris in France by train is often difficult.

Chamonix to Turin is not an easy train ride, but it can be done by bus, or with a change in Aosta.
