Is there a tourism visa required for US citizens visiting France? Desk agents at the airport and saying that, however they did override the requirement.
For tourist purposes up to 90 days.....no visa required.
That's what I've been reading as the trip got closer...but with the question at the airport, just made us nervous. Had also read that ETIAS was delayed until 2025. And France's visa website isn't working for me on 3 different browsers... Thank you!
Desk agents cannot 'override' a visa requirement; they won't put you on the plane if you don't have the required paperwork. When you are reserving you do get all sorts of warnings about Visa requirements which in your case would mean IF you require a visa you need to get one. American passport holders don't need a visa to visit Schengen Europe at the moment for. a period up to 90 days out of 180.
Sometimes airline software messes up too and hassles you. A couple years ago they kept denying that my husband could fly because he needed a COVID test within 24 hours of the flight; he didn't and he had uploaded the appropriate test in the appropriate time frame. My similar information went through and I was checked in and he kept getting the warning that his test had to be within 24 hours of the flight. It eventually sorted out but was nervous making. No reason, just bad software.
