We are going to do a RS Eastern France tour next year, June 2-15. We will be spending 4 days in Paris prior to our tour. Has anyone taken gone to the French Open and have any tips for us?
We went for two days in 2016 and really enjoyed it. It was during the early rounds, and we just bought day passes online when they were released. The queue to enter was long and slow because of the security checks, so that is one thing to be aware of.
By happy coincidence, a young friend of ours played as a qualifier and made it into the main draw. He invited us to sit in the players’ box for his second-round match, so that day we entered through a separate gate and it was much easier.
The grounds are quite crowded and you may have difficulty finding seats in the unreserved sections with just a grounds pass, but we preferred that to paying the high price for reserved seats in the main arena. In the early rounds you have a good chance of seeing one or more of the top players on the lower courts.
Be sure to use the official website for information and ticket purchase, not an agent.
That is good information. Thank you!!
