French lessons at Frenchlearning.com

I came across Frenchlearning.com through a blog I follow. Looks interesting, you live in a private room in the teacher's home, eat meals together, have French lessons and do a few excursions.

Has anyone had any experience with this company.

THANKS.

Interesting idea, Perry.

It has been nearly 50 years since I lived in Montreal - back when English was spoken in large parts of the City.

In those days, as an Anglophone, I spoke English and a version of French called Quebecois.

I would never have expected - and this is said with great respect to Quebec - that Quebecois to pass for Parisien French.

For Parisien French I would have thought being immersed in that French accent and pronunciation and vocabulary would be preferable.

As Nigel mentioned, the "type" of French spoken in Quebec is somewhat different in some respects from the Parisian French. It would probably be better to focus on Parisian French, as learning two versions could be confusing.

Interesting discussion, thank you. I am prefer learning in France as I am quite enamoured by the country. I beleive Quebecois French has quite a few differences. Plus I would like to combine a holiday with some classes,

This is not to influence Jane, but I would like to defend Quebec French. One of the best French linguistics departments in the US sponsors a summer program in Quebec City. If it's good enough for their students.... Furthermore, all the French Canadian professionals I know are capable of switching to a French that approaches the one standardized in France, and they do when with us. They don't sound like the characters in Mon Oncle Antoine-LOL. Then again you wouldn't want to go to Marseille and start sounding like some of the characters in Pagnol, or take on the ouais, ouais of the Parisian. So many influences, so many accents, eh ouais.
