French Leg of Trip Coming Together!

Our original plan was to fly into London and Eurostar to France, but there’s been a change of plans. Now we will be flying into CDG, traveling to Loches, then taking the Eurostar to London. We have bought our plane tickets and rented an apartment in Loches.

We have to rent the car in Paris because Hertz Tours is closed on the weekend. We’re thinking of renting at Gare du Nord instead of CDG. That way we could take the RER to Gare du Nord, get the car and go to Loches. Then Sunday we would just drive straight to Gare du Nord. Renting at CDG and returning at Gare du Nord is much more expensive.

Thoughts?

It shouldn't be much more expensive if you rent through AutoEurope. Only Hertz was charging for a different drop off last time I rented through AutoEurope. That's a real drag on your time and energy to transfer to Gare du Nord just to pick up a car.

Thanks Bets. I did some more looking and I had chosen the same car, but with automatic. I went back an chose more carefully and the difference is much more manageable, like $30.00. Now we'll just rent at CDG and return at Gare du Nord.

We've found a wonderful B&B in the heart of town that is highly rated. I has a nice little garden sitting area. We've already communicated with our host, but we had to dig up our high school French to read her emails! We didn't cheat and use Google Translate.

We will have our own tour guide, our grandson's girlfriend who lives in Loches. We are excited to meet her.
