You usually can pay by credit card. I am sure there is a number amount on the invoice.

Thank you Tocard. Yes, the total, in Euros, is disclosed. But how would I "link" my credit card to the hospital system to satisfy teh amount due? A call to the French phone number on the invoice resulted in a recorded message. Thus, I was not able to use one of my very few French phrases, "Hello, I am sorry, I do not speak French. Do you speak English?"

You are trying to accomplish two things: figure out how to pay and then provide proof of payment for insurance reimbursement?
We had an urgent care situation in France this past spring. I would 100% pay by credit card. I wouldn't wire transfer or money order. The charge on your credit card is proof of payment and a reassurance for you.

We paid upon departure of the medical facility. We received a doctor bill and a facility bill + separate payment to the pharmacy for medication. Receipts were given by all. We submitted all paperwork to our insurance (GeoBlue which we purchase for international trips) and were reimbursed promptly. I would think if you send a copy of the invoice and copy of your credit card payment; you'll be good. Or they'll let you know what else they might need.

You can always use google translate to type in what it says on the invoice to see what it says about paying by credit card. Otherwise, you're going to have to find a friend fluent in French.

Just send them your credit card information/numbers and let them charge you in Euro. The credit card company will determine the conversion rate and it will be the best rate available at that time. Check you local high school french teacher or check the library. Or go on Next Door Neighbor and ask for help from an advance high school French student.

Our French hospital bill, mailed to us, had a QR code that took me to a link to pay it by credit card. Yours may have that option.

Our travel insurance paid the hospital directly but we could have paid them by credit card at their business office before checking out. The hospital in Menton where I had surgery had listed daily prices for medical and surgical patients which covered everything.

Now you need to get an invoice from the hospital and pay them by credit card and get a receipt. It is the goal of US insurance companies to deny claims, so get everything well documented.

Great advice. I just want to mention that this works on IPhones too. For IPhones you need to download the Google Translate app, open it, click on the camera icon and point the camera at the text you wish to translate.
