Hello Travelers- we are planning on staying at a hotel in Paris recommended in the Paris guidebook. The description in the book indicates that the hotel will comp your breakfast if you show them the guidebook and/or mention Rick Steve’s. Curious how this works? I’m assuming you have to arrange the complementary breakfast at the check-in desk on your first day. Is there a limit to one person or the entire family of four. We are staying in the 7th arondisement at an Inwood hotel. Thanks for any feedback you have.
I suspect the best place to get an answer is from the (unnamed) hotel you are looking at.
Thank you for the feedback. I appreciate knowing how you experienced this interesting perk.
When possible, I book directly with the hotel/inn. If the hotel was in the RS guide with an offer, I will state that in my email. Frequently I will also get some other perk as well, like a bigger room, or room with a balcony, etc. Many of the hotels appreciate it in when you book directly with them.
Good advice above. They may want to see the whole RS book when you arrive, which may mean carrying along some extra weight. I cannibalize the books to bring only the chapters covering where I'm going. But I've never tried for one of these discounts.
I recall someone here sharing they took a photo of the RS book suggesting the hotel. That worked.
Given the current situation I would double check with the hotel before assuming that the information in the RS book is up to date.
Email the hotel to book and note the ‘free breakfast with book’ deal. I’ve done this with RS’s promise of a ‘free boat ride with book’ and the hotel honored it. I always book directly with the hotel and mention RS. Good luck!
Thank you for the very practical tips! Rick Steves readers are the best travelers in the world!
