France: typical weather during the first week of October

We're planning a vacation to Azay-le-Rideau and Paris the first week of October. In your experience, how is the weather typically at this time of year? Merci beaucoup, Jean-Paul et Normand

We have spent the month of October in Paris a couple of times and found it mostly pleasant and temperate. But Paris is always changeable -- e.g. in May we have had it 40F and rainy or 70 F and sunny -- In October we had good luck but it was luck. Always come prepared with a rain jacket and umbrella, a couple of pairs of shoes and layers. In early October you might have quite warm days -- but you can also always have showers.

It's like asking about the weather in the Midwest in early October - with about the same answers. Or any other time except maybe winter (this from an ex-Chicagoan).

When I go to Paris, I have plans for outdoor days and indoor days and then take it as it comes. For instance, I didn't get to Versailles on my last trip but I had lovely unrushed visits at several museums.
